Name:Harry J Potter
E-mail:viki_walters@yahoo.com
Bio:

Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
I won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
I don't care!

Basic

Name: Harry James Potter
Nicknames: None, really. Usually just Harry. Or Potter. You can call him The Chosen One or the Boy Who Lived...if you don't like your face much.
Age: 17
Birthday: July 31, 1980
Bloodline: Half-blood
Gender: Male
Wand: Holly with phoenix feather (from Fawkes, the same phoenix who provided the feather in Voldemort's wand), eleven inches and supple
House: Gryffindor

Health

Eyesight: Incredibly near-sighted. The world's pretty much a blur without his glasses.
Hearing: Not terrible, though several experiences have left him with somewhat dimmed hearing
Left/Right/Ambi: Right
Disabilities/Handicaps/Faults: Harry suffered substantial injuries over the summer, including shattering his left shoulder. He's got very limited use of the arm now.
Physical Health: Considering all he's been through, not too terrible. He's exhausted from his ordeal over the summer, and is nursing two broken ribs, as well as the shoulder, but overall, he's doing relatively well.

Psychology

IQ: Average, around 115
Extrovert/Introvert: Harry used to be very much an extrovert. Since the loss of Dumbledore and his recent attack, though, he's become very much withdrawn.
Phobias/Fears: Losing anyone else he loves, failure, and dementors still give him the creeps
Mental Health: Quite honestly, Harry probably does suffer from some mental troubles. He goes through occasional bouts of depression and grows very angry very quickly.

Personality

Goals/Dreams: To just be bloody normal. To have Voldemort gone and his life back on track.
Quirks/Habits: Ruffling his hair (much in the same manner James did), stuttering when extremely nervous

Philosophy of Life:
Weaknesses:

Despite his rather miserable and unusual upbringing, Harry is, for the most part, a normal, well-adjusted teenager. He's got some issues, and even he'll admit to that. Anyone who's had a price put on their head by the darkest wizard of their age since his birth would, and rightfully so. He's moody, and goes through the occasional bout of depression. He's also known for a flaring temper, and is often told it's that of his mother's. A common mistake for Harry is misdirecting that anger, firing it at the wrong person-or often, people-as is shown by his tendency to snap at Ron or Hermione when confronted with something he can't really handle.

Still, Harry's got the normal teenaged boy issues. His emotions flicker and fade or turn on full blast, depending on what's going on in his life and who he's around. Sometimes, he acts the selfless hero, ready to turn his own life upside down to save his friends, and quite possibly, the world in general. At other times, though, he's downright selfish, and a bit of an attention seeker. It's taken him a long time to come to terms with his fame as 'the Chosen One', but knowing that it was his mother's love for him and not his being some exceptional wizard brought that to a head. He takes the attention he receives in stride, often having to lean on someone else in order to really deal with it.

Strong points are something Harry's got plenty of, and they're not what most people think of on the surface. Yes, he's brave and courageous and able to handle pressure. It's what makes him a true Gryffindor. But he's a devoted person. Though he may be wary about you to begin with-and as someone who's had several people turn on him, it's to be expected-once you're Harry's friend, you've got someone who would walk through hell to save you. Even though he knows she was hurt by what he did, Harry still put Ginny first by pushing her away. He's also been known to try and pull away from his other friends, if it's what it took to keep them safe.

Stubborn to a fault, if Harry's right, you're wrong, at least until you can prove otherwise. He's been proven right a number of times, and it has, admittedly, gotten to his head. He's also got an iron will and a set determination. When Harry gets his mind to something, it's difficult to stop him. He's not much of a listener, either, really. When it comes to the more emotional issues, his friends are better off going to someone else. It isn't so much that he cares, it's simply that he's easily distracted and often doesn't know what to do or say exactly.

At times, he can be somewhat obnoxious, though he'd never admit that. He has a jealous streak worthy of his green eyes. When Ron was made prefect, Harry battled with barely concealed envy. He's also incredibly nosy, especially if he thinks he's on to something. That's proven from the moment he started weedling out information about the Sorcerer's Stone, all the way to his tailing Malfoy in sixth year, determined the Slytherin was up to something.

Despite his downsides, Harry has a lot of good going for him, too. He's grown into a leader, someone with the ability to lead the impending war. He's got an instinct for keeping secrets when he needs to, and for picking out the more important parts of a conversation. Even when he doesn't know what to say or to do, he is there for his friends and puts them incredibly high on his list, despite a few entirely selfish moments. And of course, there's that little issue of typical teenaged hormones.

Though Harry used to lean more towards extrovert than anything else, he's pulled into himself quite a bit since Sirius' death, and even moreso with the passing of Dumbledore. He's also full of guilt, feeling as if he was the cause of, or could at least have prevented, both deaths. There's also a lot of guilt in Harry due to the events that happened right before he left the school. Other than the Weasleys and Hermione, he really hasn't had to face any of the students since everything unfolded. Quite honestly, not only doesn't he want to go back because he'd rather be ending the war, he has no urge to go back and face the students again.

Family

Parents: James and Lily (Evans) Potter
Sibling(s): None.
Family History:

Only son of James Potter, pureblood Gryffindor, and Lily Potter (nee Evans), muggleborn Gryffindor. James and Lily were both members of the Order of the Phoenix. In school, James chased after Lily constantly, but his arrogant attitude and cocky demeanor turned her off, until 7th year, when James finally buckled down and got serious. At first, Lily was still quite wary of James' advances. Finally, though, the dark-haired boy won her over, and she accepted an actual date to Hogsmeade with him. When showing his more serious side, it was easier for James to connect to Lily, and she finally gave in. Their first kiss was that Christmas, and, after being asked to join the Order by Professor Dumbledore himself, an engagement came shortly before leaving school. They were married rather quickly, as their almost immediate entrance into the war against Voldemort didn't exactly provide time for lots of planning. Harry was conceived during one of those rare quiet moments, and born the following July, a week late.

The rest of the Potters' story is the thing of legend, a story passed around between friends, whispered at friends, and told to children before they're even old enough to repeat it. They were gone before an infant Harry was even old enough to commit their faces to memory. He was left on the doorstep of his mother's sister, Petunia Dursley, and her husband Vernon. Vernon had been told horrible things about his in-laws all along, and was at first convinced just to hand the child over to an orphanage. But there was a note left with the baby, tucked in the folds of Harry's blanket. Petunia took one look at her husband and declared simply that they were keeping the boy with them. The Dursleys also had a son, a large, pushy child only a bit older than Harry, named Dudley. Everything Harry could want, Dudley had, and then twice that. Dudley also took great pleasure in lourding that over his cousin, as well as his status as the 'perfect' child in the Dursley househould.

Harry has no other blood family, as James was a late in life child and his father passed while he was still in school; his mother died not long after his marriage to Lily. Lily's parents both passed a few months after Harry was born, so he has no recollection of them. He's extremely close to the Weasleys and Hermione, however, as well as the members of the Order, particularly Lupin as a mentor and Tonks as a friend.

This and That

Occupation: Student, seventh year, Order of the Phoenix
Education: Muggle primary school till he was 11.
Home: Official residence is 12 Grimmauld Place, London, but he never intends to actually live there. Once he's free of Hogwarts, he plans to get a place near Godric's Hollow.
Finance: Quite wealthy, actually, having been left everything from both his parents and Sirius.
Pets: A snowy owl named Hedwig, and the hippogriff Buckbeak, now Witherwings, who lives with Hagrid
Patronus: A stag, his father's animagus form
Boggart: During his third year, Harry's boggart was a dementor. He hasn't faced one since, and hasn't discovered that it has, actually, changed to the form of Voldemort killing his friends.

Appearance

Height: 5'10"
Eyes: Green
Hair: Black and unruly
Build: Tall and lean, finally growing into his knobby knees and elbows

Style: Casual and laid back when out of school-jeans, t-shirts, oversized jumpers
Manner of Speech: Quite ordinary. Doesn't have the mouth on him that Ron does, but isn't afraid to lay you out, either.
Movement: Long strides and swinging arms.

Romantic

Marital Status: Single.
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Turn ons: A smart girl with a bold streak who's able to take care of herself, but also willing to be romanced and cuddled if the time calls for it.
Turn offs: Weaklings, stalkers, girls who are taller than him, Pansy Parkinson
Dating: 'Quietly' dating Ginny Weasley again. They reunited over Christmas, finally admitting their feelings for each other, but Harry keeps their status low as he still worries about Voldemort finding out and targeting her.

Animal: Hippogriffs
Book: Quidditch Through the Ages
Color: Green
Drink: Firewhiskey Butterbeer
Food: Treacle Tart
Flower: Flowers...aren't those for girls?
Scent: Ginny Broom polish
Thing To Do: Snogging Flying. Which is nearly impossible in his current state.

Harry's story is a familiar one to so many in the wizarding world, but like most tales that get passed around, it often gets skewed, the darker parts looked over. He was born at the end of July, a week later than planned. It had been a relatively easy pregnancy for Lily, though she suffered incredibly intense and sudden food cravings and one month of the most incredible nausea she'd ever experienced. Harry found his way into the world relatively easily, and was from that moment on, a good baby. Quiet, for the most part, easily able to entertain himself, and staying out of the way. James and Lily were delighted with their newborn and had plans for him from his early childhood. Not the 'saviour of the wizarding world' type plans. No, their plans were to spoil him rotten, to let their friends Sirius, Remus, and Peter spoil him rotten, to have him brought up by some of the greatest names in the wizarding world, and to perhaps, if they were lucky, have him become a Healer.

But our best layed plans often go awry, and-though it wasn't known at the time-the young Potters' hiding place was revealed to Lord Voldemort by a spy. That spy was their supposed close friend, Peter Pettigrew. Voldemort arrived firsthand at Godric's Hollow, prepared to kill Harry. James stood in his way, protecting his wife and infant son, but the Avada Kedavra was cast with merely a laugh from Voldemort. He offered Lily an out. Told her to step aside and she'd be spared. It was only Harry who needed to die. But Lily couldn't just stand back and watch her son's murder. Annoyed, irritated, and frustrated, Voldemort killed her, too, before turning to the child. His mother's screams had only just died out when Voldemort fired the spell meant to kill Harry, as the prophecy said he was meant to do. What Voldemort hadn't planned on was the curse failing, firing back, resulting in his own being becoming a state of near nothingness and the baby remaining unscathed, except for a tiny, bolted scar on his forehead.

Sirius Black, Harry's godfather, was assumed to be the Secret Keeper for the Potters, but he had, in turn, passed the task on to Peter. Sirius was framed for the murder of several muggles and Peter himself when he went to confront his friend, and Peter was presumed dead. With no wizarding family left to care for the infant, Albus Dumbledore protected baby Harry in the only way he knew how. Lily's desperation to protect her son had cast the magic needed to save his life. Dumbledore leaving the boy with his mother's only sister sealed that magic, and protected him until he reached adulthood, so long as he remained with the Dursleys.

But though Harry was safe from Voldemort and any of his followers, the Dursleys provided damage of their own. They fed him-but just barely. They clothed him-but he was given Dudley's old clothes that were far too large for him. He had no real friends of his own, as Dudley told all the neighbourhood children that Harry was a freak. Dudley threatened to beat up anyone who even tried to befriend Harry, and soon, Harry found it was easier to just keep to himself. The hardest part for him to understand was why his aunt, who was said to be his mother's older sister, could barely look at him. The shows on the telly all had siblings who fought for each other, stood by each other, and though occasionally bickering, took care of each other. There were movies where orphans such as himself were taken in by family members, and those family members loved the children and respected that they were a part of the family they'd lost. Aunt Petunia never seemed to look that way. Where Vernon verbally scolded and emotionally abused the boy, Petunia often acted as if he wasn't even there. Most of the time, she seemed to look around him rather than at him. There were even times when she seemed to view Harry as a thing, not a person. Harry was forced to watch as Dudley received the world at his incredibly large feet, while he would, if lucky, receive a used jumper for Christmas. Birthdays went by unnoticed for him, but Dudley's were all celebrated with fervor.

Until Harry's eleventh birthday. Weird things had been happening to him all of his life. He made things happen without explanation. Despite growing up in a cupboard, the spiders never seemed to bother him. After a particularly bad haircut, Harry found that he seemed to wish his hair back. No matter how many times Dudley and his friends tried to hurt him, they never seemed to be able to. And then there was, of course, the incident with the snake at the zoo. Harry's curiousity was magnified by the mysterious letters that seemed to be delivered by owls and that his Uncle Vernon refused to give him. They were even more curious, as they always seemed to know where to find him. And Vernon's insistence that Harry never see the letters was the most baffling part of all. Far from being angry about it, though, Harry found himself amused. He didn't get to go on trips all that often, either, so when they went, quite literally, running from the owls, Harry just watched and tried not to laugh. And that, was of course, the trip that changed Harry's life forever. That was the night he learned of what really had happened to his parents, of his own heritage, and most importantly, that he was a wizard and would be leaving for Hogwarts on the 1st of September. Petunia and Vernon tried to fight and argue, but there really wasn't any changing Harry's mind, and he found himself on the Hogwarts Express, thanks to Molly Weasley and her family, who helped him get on to Platform 9 and 3/4.

That assistance was something Harry never forgot, and it immediately bound him to Ron Weasley (and later, eventually, his family). Both sorted into Gryffindor during the ceremony, Harry knew he'd found a good mate. He didn't realise just how close he and Ron would become. Though Harry liked Dean, Seamus, and Neville, and enjoyed their company, it was nothing compared to the instant and serious friendship he'd found with Ron. Though types like Draco Malfoy tried to convince him early on that money and bloodline meant everything, Harry decided to judge for himself, and learned that a person's value as a friend was worth more than their blood status. His own mother had been a muggleborn, after all, and if it hadn't mattered to his dad, it certainly didn't matter to Harry. Though at first they teased and mocked Hermione for her overzealous love of learning, Harry and Ron soon enough befriended her, and before long she was as close to them as they were to each other. 'Except in that girl way', Harry would protest.

In the beginning, it didn't really occur to Harry that adventure and trouble seemed to find him almost naturally. A few choice words here, some careful eavesdropping-er, overhearing there, and he always seemed to find himself in the lap of something he most certainly wasn't supposed to know about. The Sorcerer's Stone was a matter of chance for he and his friends, and the Chamber of Secrets wasn't exactly something Harry had originally wanted to go facing. He was still so young that the actual danger he'd been facing didn't really hit him. Even after discovering the truth of his parents' murders during his third year, meeting his father's best friends, and discovering that his own patronus took the form of his father's animagus-none of this really pulled together to make sense to Harry. Of course he knew he could've died, or lost those close to him. But it seemed to fly over his head, as he really just enjoyed the sense of adventure it all gave him.

Until, that is, the Triwizard Tournament. It was the first time he realised, without a doubt, that someone was out to kill him. The tasks themselves weren't easy, but it was the fact that he was doing them that frightened him. More than once, Harry knew, he might have been killed had it not been for the help of his friends and mentors. Facing Voldemort himself, though...watching the transformation into a being with a form? Solidified everything for Harry. He knew then what was coming and what had to be done. Voldemort wanted him dead. And Harry had to admit, the same could be said for him. It was only then that he truly learned to start trusting others. It was a slow process, though. There were times he turned against the advice of others-particularly when he went to the Ministry, trying to save Sirius and instead walked straight into a trap. There were also times he tried to push his friends away, but they continued to prove their loyalty to him over and over. Whether Harry wanted them there or not, those closest to him-namely Ron and Hermione, but also Ginny, Luna, and Neville in their own ways-proved to be helpful on more than one occasion.

However, Harry is still a teenaged boy, and he's fallen into crushes and relationships just like anyone, boy hero or not. His short-lived affair with Cho Chang isn't exactly something he likes to dwell on, though he does feel he learned a great deal from it. Ginny, though, is where his heart truly was-and still is. Ginny Weasley first made her appearance in Harry's life as Ron's shy, star-struck little sister. Before long, though, she learned to open her mouth around Harry, and soon became one of his close and most trusted friends. She fought alongside him at the Ministry, and stood up for him against those who spread rumours about his so-called lies. And as many male/female friendships often do, Harry started to put two and two together. His jealousy of Ginny's relationships with Michael and then Dean. The reason his heart flip-flopped when she came downstairs in her pajamas on Christmas morning. Though he tried to deny it, it was there. Harry had fallen for his best mate's kid sister. And, without really even realising what he was doing, he found himself giving into his urge to snog her after she won the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor.

But there was still a war to be fought, hormones or not. His lessons with Dumbledore were proving helpful-not only was he learning about Tom Riddle's history (and its eerie similarities to his own) but together, they discovered that Riddle had indeed split his own soul, creating not one, but likely several horcruxes. Along with the challenges of NEWT classes, first loves, and the obvious tensions building between his best friends, he also had to come to terms with the fact that it was he who would have to kill Voldemort. The prophecy had been made about him. He'd come to deal with that much, at least. But learning the only way to be done with Voldemort forever was to hunt down as many as seven horcruxes and destory them before he could kill the being himself? Quite a bit more for a boy of not yet seventeen to take. Dumbledore promised to help him, though, and offered him the chance to go with him to destroy any horcruxes they could.

It all came to a head, though, when Draco Malfoy assisted a group of Death Eaters into the school. Harry had been with Dumbledore that night, but he'd known something was off. He'd given what was left of his felix felices to his friends, telling them to share it between them and to keep each other safe. Little did he know the scene that would be waiting when he and Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts. A fight had broken out between Order members and Death Eaters, and Malfoy stood poised, wand in hand, ready to kill the Headmaster. Paralysed by the Immobulus spell, Harry could only watch in horror as Dumbledore began to attempt to talk reason into Malfoy. The blond's wand lowered, but by then it was too late. With his own eyes, knowing there was nothing he could do, Harry watched as Snape-his most loathed professor-said the words 'Avada Kedavra'.

None of the rest of his friends and allies were killed that night, and Harry knew how lucky he was. But it was then that he became more determined than ever that the world needed to be rid of Voldemort once and for all. He set several goals. He wouldn't be going back to Hogwarts. He'd stay at Privet Drive until his seventeenth birthday, as Dumbledore had asked him to. Then he'd take off for Godric's Hollow, his parents hideaway, where his journey had technically begun. There was, however, one thing he had to do first. Letting Ginny go was one of the hardest things he'd ever done, but he knew it was for the best. He couldn't be traipsing around the country, and quite possibly the world, while worrying constantly about Ginny and the fact that there wasn't any way possible he could put all of himself into their relationship. He'd had every intention of letting Ron and Hermione go, too. But the two surprised him. For better or for worse, they were going with him.

They'd originally intended to tell no one. To keep it between the three of them until it was time to slip away. Unfortunately, Harry has a big mouth and Lupin is stealthy. Worried for the teen's safety, Lupin tried to stop him at first, but realised how badly it needed to be done. Harry reassured him, as well as the trickle of others who found out. They'd be fine. They weren't in any danger, not really. So he, Hermione, and Ron left Privet Drive at midnight on July 31, 1997 with the promise to owl the Order consistently and keep in touch, using a hex Hermione had devised that would hide their whereabouts and progress from any unwanted eyes.

They'd only been gone two weeks when it happened. Harry thought sure he was on the tail of Helga Hufflepuff's cup. He'd only planned on going looking, not actually obtaining the cup, and he slipped out before Ron or Hermione had even woken up. It was a rundown, derelict of a shack. It seemed simple enough. What Harry hadn't counted on was who was in the shack at the time. Known Death Eaters, two of them, unfamiliar faces but hoods that couldn't be denied. Sure he was going to be killed, Harry poised his wand, ready to fire any curse that came to mind. But they didn't kill him, at least not without the killing curse. Instead, the two pointed their own wands at the beams of the broken down building and Apparated right before Harry realised what was happening.

The walls of the shack came down around him, and Harry dove out of the way, but was pinned by a falling beam just before the door. If it hadn't been for Hermione's thinking to follow him that morning, Harry very likely would have died. She and Ron got Harry to St. Mungo's, where they were soon met with a few members of the Order. Everyone waited for word of just what state Harry was in.

He would live, but not without repercussions from the 'accident'. Harry had broken two ribs, shattered his left shoulder, and received a concussion. He'd heal, but it would take time, time Harry continued insisting he just didn't have. The horcruxes were still out there, and Voldemort was gaining more and more power while Harry lay there, helpless. More than once he was caught trying to leave St. Mungo's, and he insisted he was an adult and could leave if he wanted to. It wasn't until he found himself cornered in his room by Professor--make that Headmistress--McGonagall, that he finally paused and took the time to listen. She and Lupin had worked out a plan. Obviously he wasn't going to heal by gallavanting around Britain searching for things that he only had a vague idea of their whereabouts. They understood his frustration and his eagerness to be doing something other than lying around in hospital. If Harry returned to Hogwarts with Ron and Hermione and took it easy, they'd consent to letting him leave school if a solid possibility of finding a Horcrux arose.

Harry was reluctant to agree, though physically, he knew he needed the rest. But mentally, his mind was still on Helga Hufflepuff's cup, and how he could've been so wrong about its whereabouts. Finally he conceded, as he knew his mentors only had his best interests at heart. He spent the two weeks leading up to the school's opening recovering in Gryffindor tower, having his meals brought to him by houseelves, and accepting visits from no one. Still, there's a stubborn streak in Harry, one that's still set and determined to win the war once and for all, so all of their lives can get back to normal. Until then, he knows he's got to face the students willing to return to the school he failed to protect--including the girl he thought he'd left behind.

Disclaimer: No, I'm not an idiot. I know Harry Potter's not real, and I certainly know I'm not him. Harry and his world belong to Jo Rowling, Dan Radcliffe plays him in the movies and in this journal and I don't know him, I just want to shag his FINALLY legal self use his lovely face for Harry. This is all in good fun for [info]in_omniaparatus, and though the world isn't mine, the words are. Steal them and I'll feed you to a Hungarian Horntail.
